IN CHARACTER (arc 3 & 4)
ARC 3 AND 4? WTF IS THAT: jotaro's canon is long and covers multiple centuries decades; he himself is in 4 of the arcs. i play arc 3 jotaro (17 years old, set in 1989) and arc 4 jotaro (28 years old, set in 1999). when it's a big difference, i specify the arc i'm talking about.
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: jotaro will, if the situation is dire, put his hand on a friend's shoulder to show he's supporting them. if it's DIRE, okay. he will potentially accept or shrug off attempts at affection directed at himself.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: (arc 3) jotaro will fight you, he'll fight your friend, and he'll fight your friend's friend. he's not cruel for shits and giggles, necessarily, but he will hold a grudge if he wants to, he will plan out beating the shit out of you, and then he has the ability to follow through in a big big way. he's a teenage delinquent with a supernaturally-powered version of his willpower that will hit for him, and he's very willing to use it. (arc 4) still just as strong, now way less likely to start swearing and fighting over nothing, jotaro is still 100% willing to go to bat over issues of right and wrong or simple self defense.
RELATIONSHIPS: writer isn't interested in ship
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: he has a limited 'telepathy' that only works for verbal conversations with other Stand users; for cross-canon, i'm happy to expand that to either include or NOT include anyone else who's got supernatural or mutant powers! he has no other psychic abilities and zero ways of fending off psychic attacks (except for trying to beat the shit out of the user, which he'll probably opt for)
MAGICAL INFORMATION: he has a Stand, a psychically-manifested being that's essentially a piece of his will power given form. only other Stand users can see Stands, although normal people can be affected (and even killed) by them. jotaro's stand is Star Platinum, named after the tarot card the star and its color. Star is inhumanly fast, strong, and precise, and the extent to which some of these abilities (such as precise vision) are shared directly with Jotaro or simply passed along via clues (Star Platinum can't actually speak aside from his repetitive battle cry) is left ambiguous. Jotaro only has the strength of a normal human, and he has to be conscious to summon Star Platinum to fight for/with himself...usually. Star Platinum seems to possess a moderate amount of free will, in the sense that he's seen acting independently of jotaro to protect an unconscious jotaro, or other allies. Star can also eventually {SPOILERS} stop time briefly and in a very limited radius.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
VISUAL: (arc 3) Jotaro's a 17 year old who's decked out his school uniform to look like as much of a punk as possible. he tends to have a stoic stare or, at the slightest provocation, a scowl. he often drags his hat down to obscure his eyes/face, especially when embarrassed or unbalanced or just otherwise not interested in engaging with someone. oh and he's, uh, 6'5" and uncomfortably jacked. basically he looks like he could kick your ass (and he would), but if you actually try to engage him in conversation you might realize he is just...painfully, world-shatteringly awkward. jotaro is genuinely convinced people can just 'tell' how he's feeling and that his expression is easily readable, so he goes out of his way to be as inscrutable as possible. (arc 4) jotaro's anger issues have...mostly...abated, and he now wears all white instead of all black. his expression tends towards a vaguely-unhappy stare.
AURAL: he's got a deep voice and it tends to sound either annoyed or flat. he's no stranger to yelling, but he's basically only going to do that if he's either a. about to fight or b. demanding someone else shut up. apparently, he doesn't like lots of noise.
OLFACTORY: we can probably assume arc 3 jotaro smells like cigarettes and teenager's cologne. by arc 4 we never see him smoke once, so either he's quit or he just didn't want to smoke around the kids he's interacting with, so he probably smells better at 28 than he did at 17. don't we all.
DEMEANOUR: jotaro looks and acts largely like he's around either exclusively to fuck things up (arc 3) or unemotionally study things til he's got them figured out and can solve them (arc 4). we're given no on-screen reasons for his change of personality - in fact, of all the main cast in arc 3, jotaro gets almost the least amount of exposition about why he's the way he is. two other ally characters get extensive flashbacks; the most we see of jotaro's childhood is of his mother thinking of her sweet little boy (and then it cuts to teenage jotaro telling her to shut up). basically, any reasoning behind jotaro's demeanor is going to be a mix of informed headcanons. but the demeanor itself is clear: arc 3 gives us a quiet but argumentative, violent kid who still is looking out for others - he saves the first minor villain he comes across, even after being told it's impossible to intervene with what's wrong with that other character. he shoves off the doubt and immediately does the impossible, and then refuses to answer why he's just risked his life for someone else's. arc 4 jotaro is even calmer and more humanitarian-minded; his only shown emotions are now "angry yelling", "worried yelling", but also "respect for his mentees who keep growing throughout their own arcs". jotaro is a surprisingly calm and forgiving mentor for the 3 kids under his wing in arc 4, never yelling at them even when they are clearly at fault for mistakes that incur damage to himself or others. underneath all of whatever the fuck his cold exterior is (he refuses to make meaningful smalltalk, even when pressed by one of the kids), is a guy who just keeps showing up to do the right thing.
